Farm Heritage Day

Farm Heritage Day: An Historic Country Fair-Saturday September 17, 2011 10 AM to 4 PM
Come enjoy an old-time country fair! The DAV will raise the flag at 10:30 AM. The Grand Marshall, Mrs. Madge Drum, will arrive in the lead car of the Antique Car Parade.
Activities all day long: Cornmeal grinding (steam engines), apple butter making, heritage staff in costume showing antique tools, Civil War Historian, Watauga County History Book, Master Gardener plant clinic & seed swap, food canning & preservation, Christmas wreath making, tour to a raspberry patch, beekeeping, horseshoe pitching contest, and more…fun for all.
Special for the kids: face painting, balloons, animals (goats, chickens, piglet, ducks, calf, other small animals), Billy Joe Ward’s hand-made toys, fire trucks, wagon rides, insect demonstration in Cove Creek, Boy Scouts, 4-H, rescued birds & animals from Blue Ridge Wildlife, and the children’s playground.
There will be Live Music under a tent all day long. Crafters will demonstrate quilting and weaving inside the historic school building. Booths will feature locally made crafts, including Debbie Trivette’s corn shuck dolls, Green Mother Goods, Perkinsville Clockworks, Blue Ridge Parkway information. More vendors are needed; please call 828-297-2200 for more information about selling your crafts or providing demonstrations.
Food will be available to purchase at reasonable prices: BBQ, hot dogs, pinto beans & cornbread, lemonade and funnel cakes. Locally grown potatoes and other local foods will be available for purchase.
$3 for adults. $1 for seniors and children 12 & under. Children under 5 are free. Free Parking is nearby.
The Heritage Museum, located at the Cove Creek High School, will be open during all Events.
